4-H Top 4 for the Week of June 8, 2020

Happy June to everyone!  Congratulations to all our graduates out there!

-We have some extremely exciting news from our office for the entire Robeson County 4-H Family  As you know communication has been a bear lately and this is not the time to have communication issues.  So, we did what we teach our 4-H members to do and did some creative problem solving.  Now to do that it took a lot of work and support on behalf of our County Extension Director Christy Strickland and our State program leader Mike Yoder as well as months of patience (well attempted patience) to get everything lined up so we could unveil this today...and here it goes....

Robeson County 4-H has an app.  We are the first program in the state to develop this technology and it was developed with our 4-H parents and volunteers in mind.  To download this free tool just go to your Google or IOS (Apple) store and download 4-H Now.  Once you have downloaded the app, open it and search for Robeson County 4-H (it may be the first one at the top) click on that and it will download our specific app.  Within the app you update your 4-H Online paperwork, see information about our clubs, get information and register for programs, get updates and announcements (such as the Top 4 you are reading now), there is a calendar that you can add items of interest to your calendar, a photo filter for 4-H fun, links to our social media pages, you can contact staff members or check out our website, as well as give us your opinion through our surveys.  Also if you activate push notifications you will get timely reminders from us directly to your phone.  If you don't activate that's ok too.  When you go into the app under announcements you will see the first tab lists our push notifications, the second tab is our blog where you will find the Top 4.  We would encourage you to be part of history by downloading this great tool and give us your feedback in the survey section.

-Teens who want to take part in AIRE (Application, Interview, resume, and Essay) need to get their completed resume turned in by June 10th.  For more information about this program please see our previous post about AIRE.  For questions about this program please contact Shea Ann DeJarnette at Shea_Ann_DeJarnette@ncsu.edu.

-Robeson County Teen Retreat is this Saturday, June 13 from 1-3 pm on Zoom.  This is for our 4-H members who are 14-18.  Youth will get to take part in a Virtual Escape Room, Leadership workshops, and enjoy an event led by their 4-H County Council Officers.  To take part you must be an active member on 4-H Online and you must register.  You may register for this program directly on the app under programs.  Just click on the registration link under County Teen Retreat.  Or you may register on line through Eventbrite by clicking here.  Youth have until Friday, June 12, at noon to register.  A zoom link will be sent to participants prior to the event.  For more information about this new opportunity please contact Wendy Maynor.

-Virtual Summer Fun Program schedule with links for online registration will be out this week.  Stay tuned to the app and our blog for that information.

That's all for this week.  Thank you for being a part of 4-H and we hope to hear more from you on our app!

Wendy, Christy, and Shea Ann
