That being said...on Wednesday, March 1 we will welcome our new Family and Consumer Science Agent, Wendy Maynor, to our Extension team! We are so excited that Wendy is being promoted to this role. She will continue to partner with 4-H in her new position (hello 4-H Jr. Chef Day Camp) and be responsible for programming health and nutrition, local foods, and food preservation education. Not to mention some other fun things that will come up along the way. So keep your eyes open for that. We have no doubt she will do great and tasty things in this new role as she tried to get our residents to eat a little healthier and move a little more.
If you would like to send Wendy a word of Thanks, Congratulations, or other salutations please reach out to her at wendy_maynor@ncsu.edu. I know she will be glad to hear from you. Congratulations Wendy! Thank you for all that you have done for the youth of Robeson County over the last decade. Can't wait to work with you in your new role.
Wednesday, March 29th at 1PM for the youth livestock judging contest. Individuals and teams are invited to compete.

The survey is open to part time and full time farmers, ranchers, and their partners operating in rural, urban, or suburban areas. Participants have the option to enter a raffle for one of fifty $50 checks.

Hello,
My name is Erinn and I am the coordinator of the Governor’s Page Program. I wanted to share that the 2023 program year application is now open! The Governor’s Page Program offers students an in-depth view of state government. During the week, Pages will be onsite in the Governor’s Office and will also tour government buildings and historic sites including the Legislative Building, the State Capitol, the Executive Mansion, and the North Carolina Museum of History. In addition, pages will have the opportunity to develop a policy proposal with policy officials from various state government departments. You can find more information on our website here: https://governor.nc.gov/
Please share the information with any students who you think would be interested. We are looking for students who are willing to learn and think creatively. There is no gpa requirement so any students may apply in their junior and senior year. Attached is the flier for the program, a flier for a specialized week tailored to Black student leaders, and a flier for a specialized week tailored to LatinX/Hispanic student leaders.
Thank you for your time.
Best,
Erinn Foote |

In 2021 Running Strong for American Indian youth launched Dreamstarter Creative to support Native Artists. Artists are cultural protectors, tradition keepers, and valuable contributors to the contemporary American art world as they connect Native traditions with an ever changing and challenging world. Running Strong is proud to support Native creators who describe and celebrate Indigenous cultures in their work, in whatever form that may be. We encourage any artists, from any medium to apply for a grant of up to $2,500 to help support their craft, and further their art education. We will select 10 Native creators from our applicants to award $2,500 each. Grant funds may be used for supplies, materials, workshops and seminars, professional development and/or stipends for cultural bearers that you’d like to consult with. All applications are due by April 4th, 2023 11:59 EST. Selected applicants will be notified on April 18th, 2023.
During your grant year as you expand your knowledge and your craft you will complete 3-5 pieces of work that reflect this year’s theme. This year’s theme will focus on Native communities and their interactions with changing landscapes, from traditional lands to urban landscapes. A complete list of prompts is located on our website.
Please share and forward this information to anyone you know that loves to create!
