Horse Program-New Opportunity

 The NC 4-H Horse Program is excited to offer a new opportunity for senior 4-H horse program members. We will be selecting four senior 4-H ambassadors to receive scholarships to attend the American Youth Horse Council Symposium in Tucson, Arizona in April. Please see the below information and share with those who may be interested in applying. Their mission is to "Continue the Legacy" of Dale through charitable programs and grants that sustain his lifelong commitment to children, education, and environmental and wildlife preservation. Through their support, we are excited to offer a new opportunity. Four senior 4-H horse program members will receive scholarships to attend the 2025 American Youth Horse Council Symposium in Tucson, Arizona to act as Ambassadors of the NC 4-H Horse Program. Project Record Judges Needed


The deadline for 4-H Record Books and Portfolios is fast approaching, and the state 4-H program is seeking dedicated people to serve as judges. Your participation is essential to the success of this process, and we invite you to be a part of it.

If you are interested in this rewarding opportunity, please review the details below.  Volunteers, this is an excellent chance to gain valuable experience while supporting 4-H members in completing their record books. Make a meaningful impact—sign up to judge today!

The dates for judging are: Project Record Judging – April 25-27 and Portfolio - April 28-30, 2025. Our judges are one of the reasons that our 4-H youth can excel and the judge’s constructive comments help to improve our 4-H’ers record keeping skills. This is why we are asking for your help. We need 30 judges for each day of project record judging and 10 judges for Portfolio judging.  Judges will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis and all registrations for judging must be entered online no later than March 10, 2025.  Judges must be registered/approved 4-H Volunteers.  


I anticipate we will be able to complete all of our judging during the allotted time so please come ready to work.   We will provide lodging and lunch for you.  If you sign up to judge and find out that you can no longer judge, please let us know.  If you do not give this notice, you will be invoiced for the charges (lodging, meals, snacks etc.) that are incurred during the time for which you registered to help. Please understand that we are not trying to discourage anyone from judging, we just need a firm commitment, to ensure we have enough judges and that we are good stewards of our resources. We understand emergencies that come up. Just communicate with me and let me know.

 

4-H Volunteers who are judging:  Also – to judge we need to have all of our judges registered in 4-HOnline.  I anticipate most of you are however if you are not, please work with your 4-H Agent to register or go here: https://v2.4honline.com/#/user/sign-in


If you are already registered then you are all set. Go to the link below to register for judging. Please note that registering in 4-HOnline using the above link does NOT register you to judge – see link below for that.  Google Registration is required.

 

If you are available to help, please mark the dates for judging on your calendar.  Your participation in this process will benefit the 4-H'ers as well as yourself. 

 

Below is a schedule so that you can check your calendar. For those who can stay for more than one day, we will provide lodging. You will also have some meals on your own.  If you can only help judge one day, we suggest Saturday for Projects, but we welcome help on any of the date selections below! We will do an orientation on the first day.

Opportunity for Volunteers

 


We are seeking dedicated 4-H staff and volunteers to serve as judges for our 4-H scholarship resume evaluations. If you are passionate about 4-H, have experience reviewing resumes, and are committed to providing thoughtful and constructive feedback, we would greatly appreciate your support.

This is a flexible volunteer opportunity that allows you to evaluate submissions online at your convenience. Your expertise and insights will play a crucial role in recognizing and supporting the achievements of our 4-H youth.

Requirements:

  • Volunteers must be 21 years or older.

  • Familiarity with Google Sheets and access to Google Drive are required, as these will be the primary platforms used for the judging process.

  • Judges should not be related to an applicant

  • Somewhat familiar with 4-H

Judging Details:

  • Judging will take place between February 24 and March 17.

  • Volunteers will be assigned a maximum of 20 resumes to review.

Livestock Camp at NCSU

 


The 2025 Livestock Science Camp is now accepting applications from youth 15-17 who want an immersive, week-long animal science experience on campus. This camp is a great opportunity for youth with and without livestock experience to gain new hands-on skills, prepare for skill-a-thon competitions, build their network, and experience life as an NC State student.

Family Food Science Night


We are excited to offer our first ever Family Night Event in partnership with ETI and X8 Labs.  Come out to The Hub in Pembroke and enjoy an evening with hands on food science activities for the youth while the adults get the chance to learn about quick, affordable, healthy snack recipes that they can teach their children how to make.  The event is free and includes dinner for the family.  All we ask is that your register by clicking this link so we will know how much food to have ready.  So come on out on Thursday, March 20, at 6 pm and see what all the fun and learning is about!

4-H Summer Camp Positions Available

 The State Camping Team wanted to reach out to each of you in hopes you could help us spread the word regarding many summer staff positions we are actively recruiting for.  We would ask that you would kindly share this information with former campers, LIT's and others in the 4-H community that may be interested in being a part of an amazing camp experience for our youth.  


Many of you have seen the impact these incredible staff have on our campers firsthand but I'd also like to emphasize the impact this experience creates for these staff as they begin to lay their own foundation for success professionally.  If you know of youth aged 18 and older that are interested in strengthening their skill set in areas such as leadership, critical thinking, problem solving, teambuilding and more, then please consider sharing these opportunity with them.
