Livestock News

 



Hopefully this finds everyone well and looking forward to 2022.  We are excited with many opportunities coming up over the next several months.  We continue to update our website with information, and should you have any questions please do not hesitate to reach out. 

What: Nance Family Meat Goat Leadership Institute
When: February 5th , Application due January 14
Who: Youth ages 10-18
Where:  We will start at the E Carroll Joyner Beef Education Unit and travel to other farms in the area. 

When: Applications are due January 5th 
Who: Youth ages 8-18 that want to show a lamb 
Where:  This program is limited to a few counties in Eastern NC.  This is the first time for a program such as this and we hope to expand in the future.

When: January 29th, registration due January 21
Who: Youth ages 5-18
Where: E Carroll Joyner Beef Educational Unit

When: February 19th
Who:  This event is designed for beginners showing either Sheep or Goats.  It is a one day educational program with hands-on opportunities.
Where: Lenoir County Livestock Arena, Kinston

What: Cattle Hoof Trimming Clinic
When: February 19th, 7:30-11 am
Who: Trimming Cattle Hooves
Where: Wilson County Fairgrounds, Wilson, NC

What: NC State Fair Youth Livestock Scholarship
When: Applications are due March 1, 2022

When: March 5-6
Who: Youth under the age of 21.  This is a livestock show which includes lambs, pigs, goats and cattle.
Where: Eastern Carolina Agricultural and Education Center, Rocky Mount
