We know it seems like it's a little early to start planning for January but 2023 is coming fast and we have some neat and new things out there. Everything listed below is also on your 4-H App under programs. We hope 4-H Online will be available to register for 2023 the beginning of January. Please keep your eyes peeled for an email from us.

What: Project Record and Portfolio Virtual Help Session
Where: Virtual Via Zoom
When: January 4, 4-5 pm
Why: Project record Books are a staple of 4-H work. Any project you have done you can complete a project record and after three years of working on a specific project, like animal science or public speaking, you are eligible to complete a portfolio. You can win money for both on the county and district sides. It's worth your time and helps with record keeping in the future.

Who: Adult 4-H Volunteers
What: NC 4-H Volunteer Leaders Conference
Where: Durham, Hilton
When: February 3-4, 2023 (Deadline to Register and pay January 5)
Why: This annual training opportunity combines new program updates, hands on workshops, a chance for our volunteers to conduct business, and a chance to network with volunteers from around the state. This is an opportunity you won't want to miss if you are an adult volunteer.

Who: 4-H Members ages 13-18
What: SE District Winter Fling
Where: Duplin County
When: January 21 10am-4pm (Deadline to register and pay is January 10)
Why: This is a chance for our teens to travel for a day event of hands on workshops, networking, leadership, and to start making friends for a lifetime. Workshop topics currently include First Aid, Wildlife, Paracord Key Chains, Plant ID, games and more. There is a $13 fee for this event, the rest will be covered by United Way Funds. Transportation and lunch will be provided.

What: Young Leaders 4-H Club Meeting
Where: NC Cooperative Extension, Robeson County Center
When: January 24, 6:30-8 pm
Why: This is the monthly club meeting for the Young Leaders 4-H Club. Youth taking part in this club meeting must be actively registered on 4-H Online for 2023. This will be the first meeting of the year so be prepared to plan, talk about offices, and other things you would like to do.

What: Adulting with Food
Where: NC Cooperative Extension, Robeson County Center
When: January 27, 9 am-4 pm (Deadline to register is January 20)
Why: When is a good time to answer your cell phone? Is it ok to eat my entire meal with a spoon? Do I have to shake hands when I meet someone? Why can't I just communicate via text? These questions and more will be answered as part of our Adulting with Food workshop. It's been 100 years since Emily Post published her first book of etiquette and some things have changed since then, but the ability to put people at ease in any situation never goes out of style. This new program is taught by a licensed Emily Post Child Etiquette instructor this will cover a variety of topics and help add to their tool box of social graces and niceties that can help them through school, obtain a job, and even make the world a better place to live in.
Youth must be actively registered in 4-H Online for the 2023 member year to take part in this workshop. The $25 fee covers all supplies, transportation, lunch, and an afternoon mixer with adults to try out their new skills.

When: January 30, 2023 by 5 pm
Why: This is the deadline to turn in Project Records and Portfolios from the work you did in 2022. Blankk forms can be found on our webpage at: https://robeson.ces.ncsu.edu/categories/4-h-youth-development/ Project Records and Portfolios are a great way to keep up with your work over the years, allows you to learn record keeping skills, and allows you to earn extra money for your pocket.
How: Drop off the complete record books at the 4-H office prior to 5 pm January 30.
