This 4-H summer day camp program was held for 8 weeks. Each week there was a theme: seeds, soil, fertilizing, weeding, pruning, and composting. The participants rotated to 3 stations that included doing activities in the greenhouse, out in the demo garden, and a craft station. The last two weeks they focused on Cooking with Perennials. One week they learned to make Cassava Hash Browns, Lau Pele Rice Wraps, and Lau Pele Balls. The last week focused on cooking with annuals, so they made green papaya salad, green bean salad, and regular salad with items from the demo garden. The kids enjoyed all the activities and had a blast learning about gardening!! |
