Welcome to our last full day at Betsy Jeff Penn 4-H Camp. Our campers are tired and not willing to miss out on a moment of fun and excitement so they got up, got cabins cleaned and headed for the dinning area for breakfast. This morning on the menu were eggs, bacon, and biscuits. That does sort of make everything a little better. The first thing on the agenda is flag raising and then it is off to activities.
Another beautiful day at camp our campers were creek stomping, taking aim at archery targets, splashing around in the pool, and just having a great time with their new friends. As they rotated activities, it was amazing how settles they are into the routine.
Our Adventurers did get to go to outpost and work on building fires, playing games, and sleeping under the stars. Speaking of sleeping under the stars our Trekkers all made it back to camp this afternoon after their adventure to pilot mountain. They looked a little tired, but not worse for ware after getting to canoe in the Nuese River.
Of course the talk of the day was the upcoming evening activity of the dance. Some of the campers paired off, others decided not being tied down and going stag was the way to go. No matter what their personal preference is it is obvious that they are all excited about the activity.
Lunch was the camp version of a Philly cheese steak with mozzarella sticks served on the side. The campers devoured them, just like everything else they have eaten. Then it was time for a little rest before heading off on the last of their adventures.
Before they knew it it was time for dinner. Chicken tenders and fixings. Which made many of them feel like it was a gourmet meal. Right after dinner they headed back to the cabins to get ready for the dance.
The dance is always fun for campers and staff alike. We love seeing our campers get gussied up and put their best foot forward. There is dancing and games. Unfortunately Mother Nature also decided to come to the dance tonight and due to rain everything had to be held inside the rec hall. That also included their final snack and campfire. Needless to say they couldn't have a fire in the building so they improvised and sang campfire songs and did skits including the entire group.
Our campers were ready to hit the hay after all this excitement. Of course counselors moved them through the showers first and will help them pack in the morning. After all we're coming home tomorrow!
