North Carolina 4-H Camp Update

NC 4-H Camps & Centers Winter News
December 2019 - February 2020
Happy Holidays!
On behalf of our North Carolina 4-H Camps & Centers team, we wish you and yours a happy holiday season!  We hope you find time to relax, unwind, and enjoy time with family and friends over the holidays.  Thank you for your support in 2019!  We look forward to seeing you at camp again in 2020.

Congratulations and Farewell!
We are sad to say farewell to two of our Eastern 4-H Center team members.

Terri Spear, who has kept our facilities looking beautiful as our Building Environmental Services Technician over the past fourteen years, is retiring before the holidays. Terri has worked tirelessly to keep our facilities neat and clean. Please help us congratulate Terri on her retirement and wish her well as she begins a new chapter in her life!

Emily Kirkman Hodges, who has provided exceptional service as our Guest Services Coordinator over the past five years, has accepted a new position as the new Tyrrell County Board of Elections Director. Emily stated, "I know that without the skills and knowledge that I have obtained here at the Eastern Center, with and from you all, I would not have been awarded this move forward in my career so I thank you from the bottom of my heart." Please help us congratulate Emily and wish her well in her new role!

NC 4-H Camps Scenic Calendar
We are thrilled to have designed, produced, and printed 2,500 NC 4-H Camps & Centers scenic calendars for limited distribution.  Each camp has a limited number of calendars that will be distributed to camper parents, partners, and/or stakeholders.

In addition, calendars were provided to attendees at the 2019 State Extension Conference, as well as a few at the 2019 N.C. State Fair.

Special thanks to Tabitha and Angela in our State 4-H Office for their work on these scenic calendars!

New Promotional Toolkit Coming Soon
Our State 4-H Camps and Centers team is creating a new promotional toolkit to help Agents recruit and promote 2020 4-H summer camp, which will be available soon. Look for a link to the new promotional toolkit soon.

Campership Funding Pending Availability in 2020
We are working closely with our National 4-H Council and our NC 4-H Development Fund Team on funding to provide camperships to deserving youth in 2020.

National 4-H Council has indicated that they might have available grant funding to provide camp scholarships to youth from vulnerable populations like they did in 2019.  However, nothing has been confirmed at this point, but we will provide further updates as they become available.

We do have internal funding available within our camp endowment income account that we plan to make available with or without a grant from National 4-H Council. We will advise on how much and the process to apply as we make that determination.
