4-H Top 4 for the week of January 18, 2021

Hope everyone had a chance to enjoy their weekend and reflect on the reason for the federal holiday.  Maybe our 4-H members even had a chance to participate in a Martin Luther King, Jr. service project.  If so, we would love to hear more about it.  Please let your child share their activity with Wendy or myself at wrmaynor@ncsu.edu or sadejarn@ncsu.edu.

One other announcement...We have received word from the state 4-H office that 4-H Online 2.0 is not ready for roll-out yet.  Their hopeful roll out date was yesterday, however some of the improvements have not been made yet.  As soon as it is ready to roll out we will let you know and ask that everyone get enrolled for the 2021 4-H Year.  We appreciate your patience and are looking forward to this more user friendly edition of this program.

-Today is the deadline to turn in 4-H Honor Club and Scholarship applications to our office.  If you have any questions please contact Shea Ann DeJarnette at sadejarn@ncsu.edu.

-The deadline for our 14-18 year olds to sign up for 4-H District Winter Fling is Wednesday, January 20.  This year's district teen event will be taking place virtually on Saturday, January 23 from 1-3:15 pm.  You can register from our app or by clicking on this link: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/district-winter-fling-registration-for-robeson-county-4-h-members-tickets-135743936769

-We are excited to tell you about a new citizen science experiment for our 4-H Youth, the 4-H Sourdough Science Project.  Youth will have a chance to start their own sourdough starter and feed it for 15 days.  Each day writing down their observations of the starter and ultimately recording it in a statewide website of data.  This is a really neat program that only requires things in your house such as flour, water, a jar, spoon, ruler, etc.  This is a fun science project for the entire family.  The youth introduction and training will take place via zoom on January 26.  To register for the program, by January 22, you can find the link on our app or here:  http://go.ncsu.edu/dough

-4-H Club Leaders, just a gentle reminder that your club paperwork that you received last week is due on January 29th.  If you have any questions please contact Wendy at wrmaynor@ncsu.edu.

That's it for today.  Hope you have a great week and we hope to see our teens on Saturday at 4-H Winter Fling!

Wendy, Christy, and Shea Ann
