Millstone Here We Come

It might be a mini week of camp this week but don't let the three days of camp fool you this one is a powerhouse.  Today was our first day of day camp at Millstone 4-H Camp in Ellerbe.  For those of you not familiar with this camp it is a traditional camp full of traditional camp activities, in a camp setting, the only difference between this and overnight camp is that we travel back and forth from our office each day.
We left early this morning at 8 am to make it to camp in time for check in and to get started.  Before we were broken into age groups for activities we met in the rec hall for games and team building.  There was an updated London Bridge and other games that had us moving, laughing, and smiling while making new friends.  Robeson County is one of 6 counties that brought youth to camp.  All in all we have a total of 72 youth ranging in age from 9-13 keeping this camp staff busy.
After leaving the rec hall we headed out to our activities.  On the agenda for today was archery, team building games, arts and crafts, and of course our favorite activity swimming.  Our youth got the chance to do a little of everything and in the middle of it was a really good lunch.  On the menu, chicken strips, tator tots, green beans, and some awesome chocolate chip cookies.  The first thing our Robeson County campers mentioned when they got home, was that the food was really good.
After lunch we headed back to our activities.  By mid afternoon it was time for camp store, which meant a snack and drink for everyone right before they hit the ball field for a complex game that resembled capture the flag.  By the time they were done it was time to load back up in the van and head back to Robeson County.  Each of our campers took a nap on the way back after being worn out from the days fun.  Stay tuned as we return back to Millstone tomorrow to continue our fun!
