Can you just say WOW!This year we had more than 50 entries for our 4-H Artastic Competition and our judges did a phenomenal job working it all out.
Let's start with our youngest competitors, our five to seven year olds known affectionately as our cloverbuds. This age division is noncompetitive. Each cloverbud will receive a participation ribbon for there entries and a prize come 4-H Youth Achievement Night. Big shout out to Zoey Stickney-Brewer, Thomas Underwood, and Emmy West for entering the contest and offering such incredible entries. Our three 4-H members accounted for 17 items. Items ranged from Pottery to sand art and a masterful collage of a beach scene. Our judges were impressed with everyone's hard work and creativity. Jr.s better watch out because these 4-H members will be offering stiff competition.
On to our 8-13 age division also known as the Juniors. This age category is competitive. We had two artist that submitted 16 items. The judges had some hard work in one area that they both submitted an item to compete against each other and that was Acrylic Painting. Jahari Roberson, of Young Leaders 4-H Club, got first place for her sunset painting while Kelsey Winston, of the Dirty Rascals 4-H Jr. Master Gardeners 4-H Club, got second for her flower painting. Kelsey also got a first place ribbon for a pastel drawing she did. Jahari also received first place ribbons in cross stitch, crochet, decorative clothing, and seven other categories. Good job ladies! Our 14-18 year old division had the most competition with just two members both from the Dirty Rascals Jr. Master Gardener 4-H Club. Brooke Canady and Maggie Underwood went head to head in Acrlyic Paintings, color photography, and drawing. In all three Brooke placed first with Maggie a close second. Both 4-H members also entered items into other categories. In the end Brooke is walking away with 6 first place ribbons while Maggie has 14 first place ribbons and three second place ribbons.Ribbons and checks will be in your envelope Youth Achievement Night.
Thank you to our judges; Sandra Cox, Vanessa Moore, and Danielle Perdue. You did social distancing at it's finest while judging so many items with kindness, a critical eye, and grace. Thank you for all you do for our youth and our 4-H program.
