| 2021 Virtual Horsebowl Results
The North Carolina 4-H Horse Program hosted its first-ever virtual Horsebowl Challenge on March 13, 2021. Ninety-nine youth representing twenty-six counties competed in four different divisions: Junior, Junior Rookie, Senior, and Senior Rookie.

| 2021 Virtual Hippology Results
The 2021 NC 4-H State Virtual Hippology Contest took place on March 13, 2021. Contestants navigated an exam, slide IDs, and judging classes in an online platform. Senior and junior contestants also completed 10 stations. Six Senior Rookies and 17 Junior Rookies competed in the event for the first time! In the senior division, there were 57 contestants and 11 teams. The junior division had 25 contestants and 2 teams.

| 2021 Judging Results
The 2021 NC State 4-H Horse Judging Contest was the first face-to-face event the NC 4-H Horse Program has held in over a year! We appreciate everyone’s cooperation and being so helpful and following all the COVID protocols for the event. We also are extremely grateful to the staff and students of the Saint Andrews University Equestrian Center for serving as the hosts for the contest. The classes and facilities they provided for us were top-notch.

| NC State 4-H Horse Judging Virtual Academy OPEN!
NC 4-H'ers, coaches, leaders, and parents are invited to register for the NC 4-H Virtual Horse Judging Academy. This is a set of online, self-paced modules that focus on how to prepare for horse judging contests. How to organize and deliver oral reasons will be covered, along with multiple example sets of oral reasons that are delivered by former horse judging team members. In addition, there are several practice classes and presentations on how to judge Halter, Hunter Under Saddle, Western Pleasure, Ranch Riding, Gaited Pleasure, and Country English Pleasure.
The cost to register is $15. These modules will be open and available for review until December 31, 2021. You can access the page as frequently as you wish. Registered 4-H'ers that wish to compete in the April 10 State 4-H Horse Judging Contest will not have to pay a registration fee to compete in the contest (a registration form will still need to be submitted).
When you register you will also have the option, at an additional fee of $6, to have a copy of the new NC 4-H Horse Program Horse Judging Manual sent to the address provided! This manual has been updated for 2021 and contains details on notetaking, criteria for judging and scoring classes, organizing reasons, terminology, and sample sets of reasons. This resource is designed to be helpful to both coaches and contestants at all levels.

| An Under the Sea Adventure at the NC 4-H Horse Show
The 2021 NC State 4-H Horse Show will hold a stall decorating contest for the fourth time! The online entry form must be completed by June 30, indicating the stall numbers to be judged within a county delegation. The entire delegation does not have to participate. There will be a small, medium, and large division (based on the number of stalls in the group). The breakdown within divisions will be announced after entries have been received.
Stalls must be ready to be judged on Friday morning (July 9) at 8:00 a.m. and the winners will be announced at the opening ceremonies Friday night. Decorations should remain up through noon on Saturday. Decorating Theme: Under the Sea

| 2021 Candace Norman Award Application
Applications are now being accepted for the 2021 Candace Norman Outstanding Service Award. Two winners, youth and adult, will be selected.
The selection process will focus strongly on the nominee who exhibits true dedication and embodies all the characteristics and morals of 4-H:
A well-rounded person who strives to make the community a better place through example and leadership. We feel that this reflects the lifelong commitment Candace made to our program and will encourage youth to continue striving for major accomplishments through setting and achieving goals. Candace was a role model for so many 4-H participants, adult volunteers, and associates, and the future of our program is dependent on more people being likewise dedicated. This award is displayed at the Hunt Horse Complex (North Carolina State Fairgrounds in Raleigh), where Candace spent countless hours over the years working in the show office.
The 2021 winners will be announced on July 10, 2021, during the evening program, at the North Carolina State 4-H Horse Show in Raleigh.

| 2021 Southern Regional 4-H Horse Championships, July 29-August 1st
In accordance with 4-H Horse Program rules, the top seventy horses and exhibitors will be eligible to compete at the Southern Regional 4-H Horse Championships in Perry, Georgia on July 29-August 1, 2021.
Deadline to Enter for 2021: - 12:00PM(Noon) on Sunday, July 11th, 2021 at the State 4-H Horse Show Office
All entries must be submitted by this deadline and location. NO LATE ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED BEYOND THE 12:00 Noon DEADLINE. ENTRIES CANNOT BE MAILED TO THE EXTENSION HORSE HUSBANDRY OFFICE.
All 4-H members, regardless of participation at the State Show, including points earned, are eligible and encouraged to enter the Southern Regional 4-H Horse Show and must do so by the 12 noon deadline whether they have or have not finished showing. Southern Regional entry forms will be placed in exhibitor packets at the NC State 4-H Horse Show.

| NC 4-H Horse Program Creative Writing & Artistic Expression Contest
Registration is now being accepted for the 2021 NC 4-H Horse Program Artistic Expression and Creative Writing Contests! The online registration can be found in NC 4-H Online 2.0, and the deadline to enter is June 15.
