Government Partnerships

One of the great things about 4-H is the partnerships we share.  Today it was our partnership with the Robeson County Government that I am referring to.  Each August one 4-H member from each county has the opportunity to attend 4-H Youth Voice.  Youth Voice is a partnership with the State Association of County Commissioners to help raise awareness in youth about government.  One 4-H member is chosen to attend an overnight event which includes workshops on government, breakfast with our County Commissioners and more.
One of the prerequisites for attending the meeting is meeting with County Commissioners and attending a meeting.  This year Tristan Page will be representing 4-H at this event.  Today he attended the County Commissioner Meeting and had the opportunity to meet with Commissioners Tom Taylor and Lance Herndon.
Although the meeting, which is open to the public, may not have been as dramatic as he thought it might be learning who the players are that run our government and how things work in the meeting was  informative.
Stay tuned for more information about Youth Voice and everything that happens in August.
For more information about other 4-H programs please contact the 4-H staff at (910) 671-3276.
