4-H Top 4 for the week of April 27, 2020

Good morning everyone!

-Robeson County 4-H Started a 4-H Challenge on Sunday.  This is open to all county 4-H members and is marketed through all of our social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Remind).  It is open to all current 4-H members in Robeson County (must have an active profile in 4-H Online).  Based on the theme of each day youth will email their virtual entry to Shea_Ann_DeJarnette@ncsu.edu by noon the following day.  Prizes will be awarded in each age division for first, second, and third places. as well as participation for Cloverbuds (5-7).  We have an independent review committee that will go through all the entries for each day and let us know their thoughts.  Please encourage your 4-H member(s) to participate.  For more information you can read about the contest here or contact Shea Ann DeJarnette at Shea_Ann_DeJarnette@ncsu.edu.

-We are excited and honored to announce that the state 4-H office has scheduled a special virtual workshop for our 4-H'ers on Friday, May 1st at 4:00 p.m. via Zoom with Mr. Jones Loflin.  Mr Loflin is an accomplished speaker and author.   Mr. Loflin, we will talk about: Determining how to best use your free time.  How to have positive conversations with negative people.  Planning your future.  How to help others succeed in times of change.  Registration for this virtual workshop via Zoom is required and is open to all North Carolina 4-H'ers age 13-18 (parents will need to sign an online consent form). This free session is limited to the first 500 participants.   Registration deadline is Wednesday, April 29th at 5:00 p.m.  Please e-mail Wendy Maynor at Wendy_Maynor@ncsu.edu to register.  To learn more about this program please click here.

-4-H Animal Science Training previously scheduled for May 9th will be cancelled.  We will schedule a pickup time for animals soon and will be in touch with youth who signed up for Animal Science when that will be.  We may schedule an online learning option for youth with animals.  Stay tuned for that information.

-We hope to unveil our Virtual Summer Program next week.  It will require folks to sign up however at this point we do not plan to charge for the programs.  This will be for June and July.  We have been asked to continue to plan for August to be face to face so we are working towards that at this time.  When we know more we will share it as soon as we can.  Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work on this.

That is all for today.  We hope you have a great week and continue to stay safe out there.
Jessie, Wendy, and Shea Ann
