4-H Camp Looking for a few Good Counselors

The State Camping Team wanted to reach out to each of you in hopes you could continue to spread the word regarding some key positions we are still looking to fill for this summer.  We would ask that you would kindly share this information with former campers, LIT's and others in the 4-H community that may be interested in being a part of an amazing camp experience for our youth.

Many of you have seen the impact these incredible staff have on our campers firsthand but I'd also like to emphasize the impact this experience creates for these staff as they begin to lay their own foundation for success professionally.  If you know of youth aged 18 and older that are interested in strengthening their skill set in areas like leadership, critical thinking, problem solving, teambuilding and more, then please consider sharing this opportunity with them.

I have included links to each camp's hiring page as well as some information from the ACA which emphasizes the benefits of working at camp.  If you have specific questions regarding the opportunities below, please don't hesitate to reach out.

Betsy-Jeff Penn 4-H Educational Center: Male and Female Counselors, Wellness Coordinator, Health Care Coordinator

Eastern 4-H Center: Male and Female Counselors, Rock Wall/High Ropes Instructor, Health Care Coordinator, Wellness Coordinator
We appreciate all that you do to support our programs and we hope that together we can work to not only finalize this year's staff but continue to positively impact those that have graduated from camper by affording them the opportunity to give back in such a rewarding and meaningful way as a counselor.  Please remember to bookmark and save the NC 4-H Camp Resources for Agents google folder where we house information and resources related to camp such as marketing materials, forms, guidance and more.

On the Dock of the Bay Update

Important Announcement

2025 On the Dock of the Bay

Dear Friends and Family,

On behalf of the Eastern 4-H Center, I am reaching out to share an important update regarding our annual fundraising event, On the Dock of the Bay, which has been a cherished 4-H tradition in Tyrrell County for many years. After much thought and deep consideration, we have made the difficult decision to pause the event this year due to several transitions in the coming months that require our dedicated focus and careful planning.

Instead, we are excited to announce that our next celebration will take place on May 2, 2026, marking the 25th anniversary of the Eastern 4-H Center. This milestone offers a unique opportunity to create an unforgettable event that honors our collective impact. While we understand that this change may come as a surprise, please know that this decision was made with great care and a commitment to ensuring the long-term success of our organization. By focusing our efforts on the 25th anniversary event, we aim to deliver an unparalleled celebration that reflects the dedication and generosity of supporters like you.

Though we won’t gather this year, our work continues. We ask for your continued support of the programs and activities of the Eastern 4-H Center, particularly in providing camp scholarships for the upcoming summer. Your generosity ensures that children in need can experience the joy, growth and connection our camp provides. Donations can be made online at go.ncsu.edu/eastern4h or via check payable to the NC Agricultural Foundation (memo: “Eastern 4-H Center”). Checks can be dropped off at the Center or mailed to:

NC Agricultural Foundation, Inc.
Attn: Eastern 4-H Center
NC State University
Campus Box 7645

 Raleigh, NC 27695-7645

To ensure support for campers this summer, please send all donations by May 3, 2025.

In the coming months, we will share more details about our 25th-anniversary celebration and ways to get involved. If you have any questions or wish to explore other ways to support the Eastern 4-H Center, feel free to reach out to me at 252-797-4800 or jlstandi@ncsu.edu.

Thank you for your understanding and continued commitment. We look forward to celebrating this incredible milestone together in 2026!

Warm regards,

Jennifer L. Standish

Crowdfunding Support Opportunities

Many of our folks have enjoyed the camping scholarships from our state 4-H Office.  Here is a chance to give back to that program, or others that you may find of interest.  The 4-H camping program is close to our 4-H Agent's heart as she is even in the video (What?????) explaining the importance of 4-H camps for our youth.  It also highlights 4-H member Micah Ransom.  Please see the information below and click the link to see the projects.

Seven groups are raising funds to elevate the NC State experience, and starting today, you can make a contribution that will amplify the Pack’s impact in our communities. You — our Wolfpack faculty and staff — know better than anyone how crucial experiential learning is for shaping student success.

With your support, this winter’s crowdfunding projects will:

  • Help more students with disabilities participate in NASA-sponsored programs
  • Fuel opportunities for Jenkins MBA students to study around the world
  • Fund scholarships to train a new crop of 4-H leaders
  • Enable faculty to expand students’ access to high-quality, low-cost textbooks
  • Support Pack problem-solvers designing cleaner energy solutions and tackling over a dozen more of society’s biggest engineering challenges
  • Modernize training facilities for our Air Force ROTC cadets
  • Equip historically excluded researchers to gain hands-on experience in their fields

Thank you for your vital support to enhance our Wolfpack community.
