The Golden LEAF Colleges and Universities Scholarship for the 2026–2027 academic year is now open at CFNC.org.

A total of 215 scholarships are available for first-time recipients from qualifying rural North Carolina counties, helping students attend participating N.C. colleges and universities.

This scholarship is designed for students with strong roots in rural North Carolina with an intent to return home after graduation to live, work, and lead in their communities.

Selection considers multiple factors, including academic performance, financial need, and community ties.

Applicants must complete the FAFSA.

Apply by March 1, 2026

Honor Club and Scholarship Applications

 Folks this information just hit our emails today please read carefully.  Scholarships are for Seniors who will graduate this year.  Honor Club is for youth 16 and up.  Please note we need all applications submitted to our county office no later than close of business on January 26th so we can do what we need to and get it submitted to the state office.

1. New Honor Club members are required to pay lifetime dues upon induction. Some counties cover this expense.

• Eligibility: Current NC 4-H members who are high school seniors with at least three years of 4-H experience.

• Submission Requirements: One PDF file containing all required documents except the Financial Need Statement (to be mailed separately). A separate PDF of the applicant's résumé is also required.

1. Compile all applicant documents into a single PDF (excluding the Financial Need Statement).

Good morning folks.  We have received these scholarship opportunities for High School Seniors planning to pursue a degree in agriculture or a related field.  

One scholarship is open to anyone planning to purse a degree in agriculture or a related field however an educator (teacher, 4-H Agent, etc.) would need to nominate you if you are interested.  

The second opportunity is for anyone who has family working at a Mountaire plant and is designed to send another generation to college.  Please read both opportunities carefully and if you qualify and need some assistance apply let Jade McNeill or myself know and we will be happy to assist you.

 Mountaire Farms, the country’s fourth largest chicken processer, has dozens of $2,500 scholarships available for the children and grandchildren of employees, poultry growers, and grain producers. The deadline to apply is June 5, 2023.

“This is another great benefit of working for or with Mountaire Farms,” said Phillip Plylar, President of Mountaire Farms. “It’s an honor to meet these families and see the commitment these students have to their education. We are blessed to be able to help them succeed.”

To be eligible, a student’s parent or grandparent must be employed by Mountaire Farms, or grow broilers, breeders, or grain (10,000-bushel minimum) for Mountaire. Applicants must enroll as a full-time college student carrying a minimum of 12 credits per semester in the current school year.

Successful applicants must be involved in extracurricular activities at school and in their community. Preference will be given to an industry-related course of study. A copy of the student’s transcript must be attached to the application.

The company will be announcing scholarship winners on July 3, 2023 and winners will be invited to an event in August where they will be recognized.      High School Seniors active in te 4-H Horse Program listen up, because this scholarship is for you.

    The Billy S. Murray Sr. 4-H Horse Program Scholarship- Billy S. Murray, Sr. was a professional farrier and a long time 4-H leader and supporter in the Southeast District. Billy led 4-H horse clubs in both New Hanover and Brunswick counties. He was also an active member of several horse organizations in Southeastern NC, including the Carolina Classic Horsemen’s Association, the Seagate Saddle Club, the Brunswick County and Columbus County Horsemen’s Association. He was always willing to lend a hand and help out other horse owners and youth in a time of need. His sudden death came in September of 2005, after volunteering his time to announce an annual horse show in Wayne County. This scholarship was established to carry on Billy’s tradition of supporting youth through 4-H horse activities. 

    PURPOSE: To assist high school seniors and graduates who are continuing their education by pursuing a two or four year college degree, and have been active 4-H members and participants of the Southeast or Northeast District 4-H Horse Program. 

    AWARD: A $500 scholarship to one high school senior or graduate enrolling at a senior or community college. The award will be mailed directly to the college. 

    SELECTION CRITERIA: Recipients will be selected based on the following criteria: 

                30% scholastic achievement 

                35% 4-H horse activities and involvement 

                35% 4-H non-horse activities and involvement 

    APPLICANT RULES: 

1. Applicants must be a high school senior or graduate and a resident of the Southeast or Northeast 4-H District. 

2. Applicants must have been active in 4-H and SE/NE District 4-H horse activities. 

3. The entire application form must be completed. 

4. Grade transcripts must be included with the application material. 

5. Applicants must provide two personal reference contacts, one from their school staff, one a community leader. Letters of reference are not required. Homeschooled youth may provide two community leader references. 

6. Selected recipient will be recognized at the East Regional 4-H Qualifying Horse Show, in Williamston, NC.

NC State Fair Scholarship Opportunity

 

All youth who have exhibited a livestock animal at the N.C. State Fair are eligible to apply for this scholarship, regardless of breed, class or show placement. Showmen and previous showmen are encouraged to apply for scholarships each year they are enrolled at an institute of higher learning at a minimum of 9 course hours per semester, including community colleges and technical schools. 

***New for 2022. Winners will only be eligible to receive the scholarship a maximum of 4 times. Years prior to 2022 will count towards the 4 years. 

Completed applications are due to the N.C. State Fair Office or postmarked by 5:00 p.m. on March 1, 2022. All scholarships are paid directly to the educational institution. Verification of enrollment is required prior to payment. Failure to submit requested enrollment information will result in forfeit of scholarship for the current school year.

College Scholarship Opportunity

The North Carolina Association of Agricultural Fairs (NCAOAF) offers several college scholarships each year.  Youth who are involved with their local fairs have the opportunity to apply for this prestigious award.  In addition, youth involved with the Robeson County Regional Agricultural Fair may submit their awards to the local fair for the opportunity to be awarded additional scholarship funds.

Scholarship Opportunity for Seniors in High School

The Robeson County Farm Bureau Senior High School Scholarship was established in 2015 to honor one graduate from each of the Public Schools of Robeson County and to the Early College at Robeson Community College as he/she continues his/her education at an institution of higher learning beyond high school.  The scholarship will be presented at the annual awards night for each high school graduating class and to the Early College at Robeson Community College.  The value of the scholarship is $2,500 and the recipient will be determined by an independent panel.  

STUDENTS should return their completed applications by April 6, 2020 to their high school guidance counselor.
